Meet Julie
I began practicing family medicine as a PA in 2003 and specialized in primary care and women’s health. After practicing medicine for over a decade I began seeking avenues to advance my capacity to help patients heal. Thus, I completed the Integrative Medicine Fellowship at the University of Arizona under the tutelage of Integrative Medicine leader Dr. Andrew Weil and graduated in 2015. I currently practice Integrative Mental Health at “Julie Rake Healing” in Scottsdale Arizona.
I was a clinical provider for “The Sparta Project,” from 2016 through 2020, a non-profit organization whose mission is to help heal the moral and spiritual wounds of our first responders, active and veteran military personnel. Furthermore, I teach “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder” modules for Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) Police and Fire programs for the Greater Phoenix and East Valley departments.
I served on the Board of Directors for the Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona (BIAAZ) from 2015 through 2023. I served as the board president for three consecutive years, 2019, 2020, and 2021. I was active on the leadership and education committees for the board and was always enthusiastic about advancing the mission of the wonderful organization.
I was the medical team liaison for the “Chopra Health Program” at CIVANA from 2021 – 2024. This appointment included facilitating meditation instruction, being knowledgeable in the ancient healing tradition of Ayurveda, teaching wellness classes, providing Ayurvedic medical consultations, coordinating medical provider schedules, and providing psycho-spiritual and medical support to program attendees.
One of my passions is learning about, and teaching, principles of Neuroplasticity and Mind-Body medicine. I frequently speak to health care professionals, patients and other groups on various topics related to healing trauma and advancing health from a mind/body approach. I frequently speak for the BIAAZ and offer various classes and meditation seminars as a representative of the organization.
